The inside scoop: what trends market verified for for this year

Market is a magical place that all retailers and manufacturers gather together a couple times a year to see what’s in store for the upcoming year.

New products are released and new trends are born.  Everything from furniture, decor, lighting, textiles, and on and on you will find at market.  This market really confirmed a couple of topics that have been launching around social media since the new year began, so let’s dive in to what I saw.

Antique replicas came in strong really confirming that the lived in collected feel is what we are going to be seeing in all those pretty magazine pictures this year.  A more lived in and comfortable approach is what this said to me.  Look for thrifting & antiquing to grow even more in popularity.

We’ve been talking a lot about silver in lighting, plumbing, hardware, & accessories. The lighting industry did confirm that the feedback given to manufacturers is that customers are tired of our beloved aged brass and looking for a classic cleaner feel in silver. Not sure exactly how I feel about this one since it does contradict the antique and aged look of our previous conversation.  I can however see that mixed metals will work well for the year. A good blend of metals in one space making it ho back to that collected and lived in feel. I would advise to NOT completely ditch your other metals if you were on the fence. Black and aged brass still had majority of the market with an increase of silver starting to make its way onto the scene again. Just wanted to be clear that it wasn’t a silver only market!

Warm tone travertine in accessories and accent furniture were very consistent between showrooms so be prepared to see that hit the shelves. Textured ceramic or plastered accessories mimicking handmade products were in several showrooms as well.

Lastly, a little Insider scoop for Reclaimed is all about the lamps coming in this year. They are absolutely incredible in size & style at an affordable price point!  Couldn’t even believe it when we found it.
